이 연작은 내가 50대에 접어들며 깨달은 진리에서 비롯되었습니다. 우리는 삶을 계획대로 이끈다고 믿지만, 실상은 우연과 예기치 않은 사건들이 얽혀 우리가 누구인지를 형성합니다. 이 작품에서 나는 붓을 자유롭게 놓아 자연스럽게 펼쳐지는 색과 질감 속에서 우연의 예측할 수 없는 흐름을 받아들였습니다. 그 안에서, 의도적으로 인공적인 문양을 삽입하며 질서와 혼돈의 경계를 흐릿하게 얽히는 지점을 표현하고자 했습니다. 의도와 즉흥성은 단순히 상호작용하지 않고, 충돌하고 얽히며, 그 경계를 넘나드는 복잡한 상태를 만들어냅니다. 이 작품은 삶 자체의 불확실한 영역을 드러냅니다. 계획과 우연, 질서와 혼돈이 뒤엉켜 명확한 결말이나 정리된 형태 없이 서로 얽히고 풀려가며, 때로는 지저분하게 얽히는 과정 속에서 의미가 생성됩니다. 관람자가 이 작품을 통해, 끊임없이 교차하는 이 두 힘이 결코 완전히 조화되지 않음을 느끼고, 그 안에서 지속되는 긴장감 속에서 의미를 발견하기를 바랍니다. 아크릴, 목탄, 오일 파스텔의 결합은 이러한 불확실성과 미완성의 상태를 시각적으로 형상화하며, 삶에서 우리가 통제할 수 없는 것들 속에서 아름다움과 의미를 발견할 수 있음을 전달합니다.

 

This series emerged from a truth I discovered in my fifties: while we believe we live life according to our plans, it is chance and the unexpected that shape who we are. In this work, I let my brushes fall freely, allowing colors and textures to emerge organically, embracing the unpredictability. Within this spontaneity, I introduced artificial patterns, blurring the boundary between order and chaos. Intention and spontaneity do not merely coexist; they collide and intertwine, creating a space that resists clarity and neat resolution. This piece reflects life—an uncharted territory where symmetry is impossible and no harmonious conclusion is ever reached. I want viewers to feel how these forces, instead of reconciling, remain entangled in a constant state of flux. The materials—acrylic, charcoal, and oil pastel—capture this instability, revealing how beauty arises not from resolution, but from the untidy, unfinished state of being.
