In our age of digital perfection, I deliberately draw crooked circles. Traditional Korean hanji breathes differently than Western materials, having quiet conversations with Oriental pigments. Irregular forms drawn with ink pen rebel against perfect geometry, celebrating “beautiful failures.” Each color argues its own philosophy—red for passion, blue for contemplation, yellow for joy. At the heart of each wonky wisdom lies a rice-grain golden dot symbolizing presence itself. Control meets chance, creating what I call “breathing balance.” True wisdom emerges not from perfection but from the courage to be authentically ourselves. 모든 게 디지털로 완벽해진 세상에서, 나는 일부러 삐뚤빼뚤한 원을 그린다. 전통 한지는 살아있다. 서양 재료와는 다르게 숨을 쉬면서 동양화 물감과 속삭이듯 대화를 나눈다. 먹펜으로 그어낸 울퉁불퉁한 형태들은 완벽한 기하학에게 “아니다”라고 말한다. 이것이야말로 아름다운 실패다. 색깔마다 제 목소리를 낸다. 빨강은 뜨겁게 외치고, 파랑은 조용히 생각하며, 노랑은 신나게 웃는다. 각각의 삐뚤한 지혜 한가운데엔 쌀알만 한 황금 점이 박혀있다. 모든 게 변해도 변하지 않는 그 무엇, 바로 현존이다. 계획과 우연이 부딪혀서 내가 “호흡하는 균형”이라고 부르는 마법이 생긴다. 진짜 지혜는 완벽함에서 나오는 게 아니다. 진짜 나 자신이 되겠다는 용기에서 나온다. 결국 우리는 모두 제 황금을 찾아 헤매는 삐뚤빼뚤한 원들이다.

## The Beauty of Imperfection
In our age of digital precision, I explore the beauty of the askew. *Wonky Wisdoms* emerges from the belief that authentic wisdom arises not from geometric perfection but from the courage to be genuinely crooked.
Traditional Korean hanji breathes differently than Western materials. It inhales Oriental pigments and exhales color, continuing quiet conversations with the paper long after my brush departs. This seeping quality mirrors wisdom itself—not forceful imposition but gradual permeation that becomes inseparable from understanding.

## Intentional Failures
The irregular circles drawn with ink pen rebel against perfect geometry. I deliberately create “beautiful failures”—distorted ovals, wonky forms that refuse classification. This reflects how real wisdom appears in life: never textbook-perfect, always slightly off-center, uniquely shaped by personal experience.
Within each form, colors argue their own philosophy. Red declares passion, blue contemplates, yellow celebrates joy. They don’t compromise, maintaining distinct voices while sharing space—like diverse wisdom traditions coexisting without losing their individual integrity.

## Golden Centers

At the heart of each wonky wisdom lies a rice-grain golden dot. In a world obsessed with geometric perfection and digital precision, I find myself drawn to the crooked, the irregular, the beautifully flawed. My *Wonky Wisdoms* series celebrates what I call “the democracy of imperfection”—where each distorted circle carries its own profound truth, and wisdom emerges not from perfection but from the courage to be authentically askew.

## Material Philosophy: When Paper Breathes Wisdom

My choice of traditional Korean *hanji* paper mounted on canvas is not merely aesthetic—it’s philosophical. Hanji breathes. It inhales Oriental pigments and exhales color in ways that Western materials cannot replicate. Unlike acrylic or gouache that sit rigidly on the surface, Oriental pigments seep, settle, and continue their quiet chemical conversations with the paper long after my brush has moved on.

This breathing quality mirrors the nature of wisdom itself—it doesn’t impose itself but gradually permeates, becoming inseparable from the fabric of understanding.
