Convergence of Dimensions

This 40×30cm work on hanji board presents a deliberate collision between two-dimensional painting and three-dimensional materiality. Five horizontal bands traverse the surface, each asserting its distinct physical presence while engaging in visual dialogue with adjacent elements.

The central intervention involves iron rust paint treated with corrosive solutions, generating unpredictable chemical reactions across time. This process yields a textured surface that protrudes beyond the pictorial plane, challenging conventional boundaries between painting and sculpture. The rusted area emerges through collaboration between artistic intention and material autonomy—a negotiation where control and chance intersect.

Hanji's inherent properties of absorption and translucency reveal the density variations of applied pigments, while the corroded zones translate temporal irreversibility into tangible matter.
